Add a New Entry

To create a new blog topic with your SEKit CMS, first log in to your website administration. There will be a row of red navigation tabs along the top of the page. If your blog is enabled, the leftmost tab will read "Blog". Click on that tab.

If you have never created a blog topic in you SEKit before, you will automatically be taken to the Adding a new Blog Topic page. If you have existing blog entries, you will have to click on Add a new Blog first.

In the "Adding a new Blog Topic page", you'll have four fields: Display/Delete, Title, Comments, and Page.

  • Display/Delete sets the status of your blog entry: Display, Do Not Display, or Delete. "Display" means that your entry will appear on your website as soon as you click the Submit button. "Do Not Display" means that your entry will not appear on your website, but you will still have access to it in your SEKit admin. "Delete" will remove the blog entry completely.
  • Title is for the subject line of your blog entry.
  • Comments is for the actual content of your entry. HTML can be used in this field. (A primer on how to use basic HTML can be found here.)
  • Page specifies which page the blog entry appears on. For instance, if you select "bio.php", the blog entry will appear on your Biography page as well as the main blog page. All blog entries will automatically appear on the main blog page (blogs.php) regardless of what is chosen here.

Once you're finished filling out the fields, click the Submit button to save your blog entry.

Edit an Existing Entry

To edit an existing blog entry, click on List the Blog Topics to be given a list of all existing blog entries. From there you can:

  • Toggle their display on the website by clicking Display or Suspended, which will change the entry between Display and Do Not Display. Entries that are suspended (set as "Do Not Display") will be greyed out in the list of topics.
  • Change the blog content, title, or page by clicking Edit.
  • Delete an entry by clicking Delete.
  • Look at the number of comments that are displayed (On) or hidden (Off).

Managing Comments

To manage the comments for a particular entry, you must click on List the Blog Topics, and then click on Comments for the entry that you want to manage.

You can:

  • Add your own comments to the entry using the Add a Comment link.
  • Edit the content of comments by clicking Edit.
  • Toggle the display of a comment by clicking Display/Do Not Display.
  • Remove a comment by clicking Delete.
